Frequently Asked Questions

There is no clear cut answer for this and it is not possible for an instructor to answer this question. How many driving lessons for test varies, as every individual is different and learns at their own pace.It clearly depends on one’s aptitude as every person is different. Some take as little as about 20 hours, some take well over 50 or 60 hours believe it or not! Whatever the reason may be, Our instructors will be honest with you.

It doesn’t matter how many lessons you do. It is how YOU show the examiner that you are safe behind the wheel, you know about the rules of the road, how you show him/her how to get out of trouble, safely and with regard to other road users.

Block booking your driving lessons will help you to pre-book the dates and times to best suit your diary The advantage of this is that it allows you to plan and budget for your training in advance. It also offers you considerable cost savings, as we will always discount block bookings.

You can ‘book blocks’ of driving lessons in 10, 20 or 30 hours. Our experience shows that learners who take block bookings are more likely to succeed due to the commitment and are much less likely to stop learning. Progress with confidence and give yourself the assurance that you are receiving value for money. We have driving instructors available to book you in for your block booking course at short notice.
You will be taught on a one to one basis in fully dual controlled and insured cars.

Let our driving instructor’s help you drive towards a full driving licence.

Your instructor will pick you up at the agreed time, usually around an hour before the test. This gives you the chance to ‘warm up’ and get any last minute queries answered. You have the option of your instructor sitting in the back of the vehicle for the duration of the test but this is optional.

Ensure you take both your provisional licence along with a copy of your theory test pass certificate. We would also recommend taking the booking details of the test.

Your practical test will include:

  • An eyesight check
  • The ‘show me, tell me’ test. You don’t have to be a right petrolhead but you’ve got to be able to answer some basic questions about what goes on under the hood
  • Manoeuvres / emergency stop
  • The actual driving, which lasts about 40 minutes.  This includes 10 minutes of independent driving

At the end of the test, the examiner will inform you if you have passed or failed the driving test. The examiner will produce a test report and describe any errors you made and if applicable, why you failed your test.

If you have passed, you will receive a test pass certificate that will entitle you to drive immediately. However, your instructor will usually drive you back home afterwards.

You may request a refund up to 48 hours before the lesson. Payments for any lessons already taught and not attended  will be deducted.
